Notices written in black ink, starkly standing out on fresh new parchment, are posted around noticeboards in town:
Dear Faithful of Risenholm,The bottom of the notice is stamped with a golden-yellow wax seal, stamped with the raised print of a crescent moon.
Do you crave knowledge in all forms? Do you seek a better understanding of our world? Do you wish to record and preserve history as we learn it? Do you have concerns that the right information in the wrong hands could be dangerous? Do you believe we must learn of this world's past in order to prevent a repeat of those catastrophic, world-ending events that lead to the creation of the Well?
If you have answered yes to any or all of the above, you must learn of the Silent Lord. Find Rystel at the Temple (across from the Well) or around town and inquire.
The Silent Lord is a Sleeping God - not to be awoken or disturbed, but also not one to be left to His victories. He is a greedy, jealous God - left to His own devices, He would horde all knowledge to Himself, never sharing with us Risen.
In an act of defiance and revolt against ignorance (and to assure ourselves that we will not repeat the mistakes of the past), the faithful are encouraged to explore the world, finding new discoveries and recording all manner of knowledge that they can about the world and its myseries. This knowledge is to be collected, studied, and safeguarded against any opponent who might misuse that knowledge - particularly to plunge the world back into the chaos of the past. The Thousand and One Fates may lead us anywhere, but they shall not lead us back to destruction.
Come, faithful - join me in the search for Truth, and become a Chronicler.
Always Yours,
Rystel
