TNN: True & Neutral News - "FIRST PEOPLE'S CONCLAVE HOLDS MEETING, RISEN GENERALLY UNIFIED"

The first-ever People's Conclave of Faith met recently in the Temple. Arranged by Kili, a dwarven man counting himself as among the faithful, gathered us to discuss several topics related to the matters of faith. The meeting was a diverse one, with many different ideas present, including those of primals, agnostics, and skeptics among the more traditional faithful. At highest number, thirteen individuals were present for the Conclave.

The first topic of the night was straightforward: How should the many faithful in the village representing several different faiths (as well as those entirely faithless or undecided) live together in peace and harmony without compromising the village's safety or serenity?

The fact the Well is important to our practical survival and existence, and thus needs our protection, is a concept universally agreed upon by all attendees. All in attendance agreed that because we all share this common ground, it will be easier for us to work together in the future. We are more alike than we are different.

The second topic happened to be the most divisive of the night: What should we the faithful do if someone tries to establish a faith in the village that declares the Well is evil, or a curse to be destroyed?

This question immediately had the attendees clamoring with comments, questions, and suggestions. Among those comments was that the question was a closed matter - we handle it like we handled the traitor Captain. Another questioned if any of us knew if the traitor captain swore to any of the faiths used as examples of possible dangers. Others stated there was no easy answer to that question and appeared uncomfortable drawing lines in the sand.

One attendee, Nergui, offered examples of what kind of adherents might pose a threat to the village: anyone who wishes to wake the Sleeping Gods, and potentially the adherents to the Shentar-as-Blade variant of Shentari practice. There was minor disagreement about the true motives of those who adhere to the Shentar-as-Blade variant, but there seemed to be no disagreement about the danger of waking a Sleeping God.

Kili posed the hypothetical: Is it easy to banish a thought? Can we hold what is in a person's heart to task? How can we even know what is in their heart, truly? Kili closed his statement by saying that to ban a faith is a heavy burden to lay upon the Elder's shoulders.

There was must disagreement in the Conclave over this point, and was the most contentious and rousing discussion of the evening, and it seemed to revolve around one question: At what point do words become punishable? This lead to a Conclave divided about how the faithful should approach threats to harm. Many pointed out that it is already a criminal offense in the eyes of the Reeves.

Kili suggested a liaison be chosen, with the Elder's consent, to work as a bridge between the faithful and the Reeves in order to best represent our input and interests. The liaison idea gained traction, though Kili said we would not put any names forth yet without the idea being approved by the Elder or Captain of the Reeves.

The third topic of the night was regarding duels, and whether they should be allowed as a method or manner of resolving disputes. Following such a heated topic, attendees had slightly less to say about the topic. Many seemed in favor of allowing duels to happen as a way to resolve differences, but supported strong, enforceable rules for how the duels were to be fought - mainly, to prevent death.

In the end, voting was called, with attendees asked to verbally say yay-or-nay on the following:

1. Faith should be a matter of the heart in this village, and only should it be an issue for the community if someone preaches violence against kith and kin.
Yay: 12
Nay: 1

2. A non-denominational observer of the faithful should be present in the Reeves to be of material use to the community as a whole.
Yay: 12
Nay: 1

3. Does anyone have any idea what's behind the locked door in the back?
No: 13
Yes: 0

Despite how productive the meeting was, there were a few bumps along the way. At least one individual stormed out of the room near the beginning of the meeting, but most attendees easily let it slide as the man, Gammon, is known to prefer action over talking. One odd gnome commented he liked how "tangy" the water tasted and it had a hint of lichen, which drew some uncomfortable stares from the crowd. There was also some discomfort in the way the same individual who voted no in the first two voting matters often seemed at odds with the rest of the Conclave at all times.

And, in the end, we still do not know what is behind the locked door at the back of the Temple.

EDIT: Correction: Kili would not put forth any names for liaison until the position is approved by the Elder or the Captain of the Reeves.

TNN: TRUE & NEUTRAL NEWS - "A REQUEST FOR RESEARCH VOLUNTEERS"

The Silent Lord would have us forget everything from our pasts, from before we crawled from the Well. Much to His chagrin, some of the Risen among us maintain a few scattered memories. Are there patterns to what is still remembered? Please join First Chronicler Rystel and a fellow researcher, Gaven Holt, in our study. We are trying to build an archive of recalled memories in order to study and search for any patterns or common themes between them all. Please approach either of us if you wish to share your memory, regardless of how large or small, detailed or hazy. No matter how trivial you think that memory is, do not dismiss it. It is important to us all.

If you wish to submit your memory anonymously, you may drop it off in writing at the room rented by Gaven. A secure box will be provided, along with paper and ink for your use. The box will be removed once a day to empty its contents for review and safekeeping.

Please see Gaven if you have additional questions.

Always Yours,
First Chronicler Rystel,
