Okay so I've got this weird idea brewing and my neighbor already thinks I'm losing it but hear me out. My little balcony over here near the corniche gets absolutely blasted by sun from like 11am onwards and those expensive ceramic pots I bought last year just cracked right down the middle by August. I was scrolling through https://www.crateco.ae/productlist/4030 late last night and it occurred to me that if I drill a few holes in the bottom of one of these heavy duty ones and maybe line it with some weed fabric it might actually survive the temperature swings better than terracotta and I wouldn't cry if the salty air eventually eats it up. Question is though would the plastic leech anything nasty into the soil that kills my jasmine plant or does it get brittle and shatter into a million pieces after a year of UV exposure because I really don't want to be sweeping blue shards off the tiles come next June. Anyone else tried this or am I just being cheap and optimistic.
