BMW 330i rear pad swap and the electronic parking brake dance, why do they make it so complicated

Decided to save a few dirhams and tackle the rear pads on my F30 330i myself this weekend because YouTube made it look like a thirty minute job and I've done brakes on my old Japanese cars plenty of times so how different could it really be, well about two hours and one very sweaty afternoon later I can confirm that the Germans have a special talent for taking something simple and adding seventeen extra steps involving a scan tool and a prayer just to retract the stupid parking brake piston, I ended up borrowing a buddy's Autel scanner and even then it took three tries to get the thing into service mode because I kept messing up the sequence of ignition on off foot on brake etc. Anyway after all that fuss I got the new Jurid pads and sensor in and everything was fine until I realized I forgot to order the little anti rattle clip for one side and had to zip tie the old one on temporarily like a true professional which is absolutely not a permanent solution but it'll do until I can find a BMW brake pad replacement and fitting service that sells just the hardware kit without making me buy a whole new set of pads, honestly next time I might just pay someone to deal with the electronic nonsense and keep my weekend for actual relaxing because the amount of sweat equity involved was not worth the three hundred dirhams I saved.
