Where Sleeping Gods Lay

Image

Something stirs beneath the plains...

A series of posters are pinned on the noticeboards around town. Among the top half of the page are a series of strange runes, clearly drawn with painstaking care and deliberation. Every long line that constitutes each sign is drawn in thick, red paint. Despite this, what they mean - if they mean anything at all - is unclear to most who come across the notice.

Underneath, the message appears to be repeated in the recognisable common language of the town.
Residents of Risenholm, Children of the Heavenly Bull:

Do not ignore this warning, as you have our others. You do so at our collective peril.

The Eternal Slumber has been disturbed. The Gods do not yet awaken, but they tremble in their prison beneath the Earth. Through our divine blood, the great dream is revealed to us - we see their message, their intent, their will. There can be no denying the omens presented to us; they are as clear as the Sun that shines so brightly above us. We have scarce, precious time and this petty bickering over town politics, exiles and the well must cease.

Those who have the conviction, will and discipline - the understanding of what must be done - are invited to join us at the temple within our town. Oathsworn, vowed to continue the great slumber; Dream-Weavers, who see the long reverie as we do; all true children of the Horned Bull are encouraged to join our cause. Seek out Sleep-Speakers Vehres and Subotai, in the name of our future.

If we do nothing, the Gods will awaken.

If we do nothing, we will not be able to temper their fury.

If we do nothing, Risenholm will not survive.

May they slumber eternally.

A neatly-penned note is pinned to one of the posters, written in black ink upon simple parchment:
Sleep-Speaker Vehres and Sleep-Speaker Subotai,

While not a child of the Horned Bull specifically, I have an interest in discussing matters of faith with you. I believe we have more in common than I initially thought.

Don't worry - I believe we are on the same side.

Always Yours,
Rystel Winters
